NOTE: Number 22 Wounded "Bogart" was definitely wounded.
Larry, as he was called, had a very serious head wound. He had
an operation in Australia, was discharged and became a salesman
in Pittsburgh for Orange Crush. Larry did well at his job
he was always a great talker. Sadly, after increasing disabilities
from Multiple Sclerosis, Lary died in about 1961. He was a very
positive person, always confident a cure for MS would be found
to save him. He left a wife and two sons. Few will ever know the
morality he possessed. He refused a government pension upon discharge
from the Marines, stating that he was able to provide for himself
and there was no need to be paid for his war wounds. Who knows
how the wounds may have been connected to the MS with which he
was afflicted? Larry, aboard ship, also served as a Captain's
Orderly. Thinking back, he was neat, intelligent, and a gung-ho
Marine.
